DSL Filter Help

A DSL filter is necessary whenever you use an analog device (telephone, fax, dialup modem, etc.)
on a phone line providing a DSL service. The filter separates the digital DSL and allows only the analog signal.
If an analog device is used without a filter, the internet service may fail.

Most of our locations share the fax line with the DSL line and will require a filter. There are 3 common types of filters:

Splitter/Filter Combo Dongle Filter Only Dongle Filter Wall Jack
Allows you to connect the DSL modem and analog device to one jack. In our stores, the DSL modem would connect to the DSL side, the analog line would go from the filter to the fax. The filter only is often used for devices away from the modem where the splitter is not needed. If you have a phone connected to a jack in another part of the store. This will be needed there also.

If this is needed at the modem, you'll use a standard splitter and connect the filter on the analog device side of the splitter.

Rare, but often installed by the phone company. Usually includes a splitter (on the side in the image above) for the analog device - with the modem connection in front.
